So What am I Doing after School?

Olivia Easly came to guest speak at my internet communications class on Tuesday. She came right out and said that "it feels weird" being in her position to be our guest speaker because it was not that long ago when she was "in the same position we are". Olivia graduated from Appalachian State University and started her career as a social media coordinator for an air filtration company. She manly works on things like email campaigns and social media promotions. One thing that stood out to me was that she is working for a start-up business and they have little to no extra money for promotion. So, I asked “what are some ways that you promote without spending money?”. She replied that it is the way you promote and the tools you use on how it can impact the audience. By using email campaign and social media promotion you can promote the product with no money spent. Another important thing that stood out to me was how she stressed it was good to get your name and connections out early. Your junior and senior years should be spent considering organization to join that should do with your major. Also, finding the right job internship so you can make that connection for the future. All this will help someone get accustom to the work force after they finish college.
